TRANSPARENCY IN THE DIGITAL WORLD
There has been a paradigm shift in the concept of transparency since the onset of the digital age, Hactivists adding a new dimension . Julian Assange / Wikileaks can be termed as the watershed in this movement, with free & comprehensive information for all, at the root of their thinking and bringing about a collaboration amongst hackers, which till then was in the realm of imagination.
Hacking has thus become the tool of the free information movement and ease with which huge quantum of information is released is a terrifying thought and reality which the governments are forced to grapple with. The role of the moles in different US intelligence agencies and their facilitators needs a deep dive to find the solution to this problem of humungous proportions.
We have reached a stage where the intelligences agencies are being surveilled upon . Their work should and would always be shrouded in secrecy, that is their relevance for the country concerned and the world. If the work of the intelligence agencies and their tools ; digital and otherwise, is made public, the potency of the very tools gets comprised. In the improvement in the post 9/11 situation, the intelligence agencies have played a stellar role. The world would certainly become less safe, if this trend continues which would embolden all the negative players of the world.
We are living in transformational times and finding a working equilibrium in the changed digital world would be arduous and take sometime, if the undercurrents are correctly deciphered and responded. The future for all stakeholders would be real time & dynamic.
