WHAT IS NOT DIFFICULT NEED NOT BE DONE
Being a cog in the wheel and aspire to be called a great professional or an innovative person is an aspiration nursed by large number of white collar workers. The fond hopes which the system has of them in radically different. What is not difficult need not be done by them. Either it is not worth doing or somebody else will do it. What is to be done by you is firstly a value add to the system or even better and more welcome is something which no other person will do.
The gold rush is for the work which can be done with least amount of effort. There are better things in life engaging your mind on a perpetual basis from social media to events to parties and endless social engagements. Do something which is not difficult. How many persons you can convincingly say have an urge for going for the difficult as a natural / professional bent of mind. Is it not true that in most the organisations that even physically most difficult / time taking work is done by a very few individuals.
If you are not ready to do the difficult, who will be able to solve the real life life problems of your company, academic institutions, research & development and the government itself. Simple management processes tweaking can solve large number of day to day problems. Understanding these problems are difficult, thinking on it is even more difficult, finding a solution is a notch further and finally working it out successfully is quite complicated. One can start only from the first step.
When machines are about to do all that is mechanical, routine and mundane, the challenge to professionals is to solve real world problems, through variety of simulation, failings galore; with solve the difficult or be out of the race. The days of intense engagement with work has started. Nothing else will suffice. That would be the future of work and also the future of mankind. Logging in and logging out of work would become a part of the past.
