NATIONAL CYBER SECURITY AWARENESS INITIATIVE
Baltimore, WannaCry, Petya, Spearfishing, WhatsApp, password protection lapses and what not, the Cyber Security scenario has not improved in the last few years. The hackers have made giant strides in the interregnum. As per Checkpoint CEO the hacks belong to the fifth generation and the cyber security response to the second generation. To cut the long story short the user in wide and varied avatars are at the center of the whirlpool though they are convinced that this is not their baby and somebody else will provide you security the same as the guard outside your house.
We are losing out on learning the skill to secure ourselves in the digital world with every passing day. We might not able to compensate this time at our whims and fancy at some future date. Cyber hygiene will certainly take much more effort compared to the physical hygiene which is still facing challenges in its accomplishment. It would be a mass campaign as the Pulse Polio program much more humungous and complicated, this supply chain nobody has been able to master as yet.
It has to be in the mission project mode; a blueprint has to be made before you get going. As everybody will gain. A multi – stakeholder initiative. All sectors have to be equal participants Govt, public sector, private sectors, consultants, NGOs etc. The are lots of resources available and a neat matrix of using those resources for public good has to be worked out. National Cyber Security Awareness Program would be the biggest multi-stakeholder learning / skilling program ever taken up in the history of India.
From a small child to the bank CEO to a bureaucrat to a corporate user to anybody who has any card facility to people working on critical infrastructure who does not need this awareness. A detailed learning / skilling program has to devised for the whole country incorporating every groups requirements and the parameterised deliverables. It should be a time bound program with inbuilt scalability as times go by.
CYBER SECURITY ONCE COMPRISED WRECKS HAVOC AT ALL LEVELS – INDIVIDUAL, ENTERPRISE OR THE NATION.
